Adopt a minimalist mindset.
Here you want to be thinking quality over quantity: Focus on owning fewer, high-quality items rather than accumulating many possessions.
Regular Decluttering: Periodically assess your belongings and let go of no longer useful or meaningful items.
Create a home for everything.
“A place for everything and everything in its place” Having this motto across all rooms and items will help you reduce overcrowding.
Designate Spots: Assign specific places for all items in your home. This makes it easier to find things and put them away.
Labelling: Use labels on storage bins, shelves, and drawers to keep things organised and ensure everyone in the household knows where items belong.
Develop daily and weekly routines.
Daily Tidy-Up and weekly routines, will help you, by spend a few minutes each day tidying up. This prevents clutter from accumulating and makes your home easier to maintain. As well as setting weekly routines, and spending time each week for a more thorough cleaning and organisation, you will find the more organised you are the faster cleaning will become.
Use storage solutions wisely.
Really think about what storage you have invest in storage solutions that maximize space, such as, stackable draws, baskets, and closet organisers. Make these visually pleasing for yourself and suitable to your needs. Always do a declutter before hunting for storage solutions.
Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Keep surfaces clear and use cabinets and drawers to store items out of view.
Adopt the one-in, one-out rule.
For every new item you bring into your home, remove an existing one. This helps keep your possessions at a manageable level. If possible, too always know what you need before shopping this will also help reduce duplications and unnecessary spending.
Manage paper clutter.
Think about where you can go digital/ paperless: Whenever possible, opt for digital versions of documents and bills to reduce paper clutter, if you’re staying as paper copies sort and file as soon as they come through. Filling system for important papers and regularly sorting through and discarding unnecessary documents. Even digital files will help you keep organised. Sort, file, and dispose of items promptly.
Regularly review and reorganise
Having a regular review of your belongings each season/ month will help you to ensure everything is in order and necessary. Think about a plan that will work for you and your lifestyle, my ideas are seasonal, monthly or life stages this works well especially if you have children.
Involve the whole family
Make organisation a shared responsibility among all household members, it’s their home too. Teach children and other family members to keep their own spaces tidy and to help with household organisation. Give children lists and rewards will help this too, this will help all members build habits.
Mindful Shopping
Intentional shopping is being mindful of what you buy. Ask yourself if the item is necessary and where it will be stored before making a purchase, as well as make sure you are not buying duplicates. Try to avoid Impulse buying, give yourself a cooling-off period before making non-essential purchases to avoid clutter accumulation.
Stay Motivated
Set Goals: Set specific, achievable organisational goals and celebrate your progress, looking for inspiration in organising books, blogs, and social media accounts to keep your motivation high. Remember that decluttering is a journey, not a once-done race. When seeking inspiration elsewhere also remember of your own lifestyle and needs.
